Log leaders of the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) Senior League, Hotpool continued to stretch their unbeaten run as thy defeated Betway 18-7 on Sunday.
It was Hotpool’s seventh win of the season in a game Alfred ‘Black Sheep’ Gumukiriza won all his five games. He is yet to drop a frame this season.
Humphrey Nsubuga and Habib Ssebuguzi both won four of their five frames cementing Hotpool’s status at the summit with 21 Points.
Defending champions, Skin Samona climbed to second position after they defeated Indigo 15-10 at the latter’s home ground.
National eighth seed Joseph Kasozi also put up a man of the match performance after he won all his five games.
But the biggest game of the weekend was at Lumas Pool Arena as unbeaten Scrap Buyers took on C.K.I, the former led most of the time until the Sula Matovu led side leveled the game nine all before leading 11:9.
In the 21st game load-shedding started to interrupt matters and when C.K.I was leading 12:11 needing just one game to break Scrap Buyer’s unbeaten run, darkness struck again for some good time.
At this point, Scrap Buyers refused to resume play and walked out of the arena even after power returned, they refused to play the remaining two matches.
The Competitions committee decided that games between Scrap Buyers’ Ssekiliba Musa and C.K.I’s Navy Matovu then Andrew ‘Artman’ Kabuubi and Sula Matovu will be played at Lumas on Saturday at 6pm to determine the winner of the match.
If either Navy or Sula wins, then Scrap Buyers would have lost their first game of the season and fall three points behind log leaders Hotpool.
In other games, Allan Katongole and Juma Tomusange inspired Anchors to a 16-09 win over Nakawa while Maga Catalina registered a 14-11 win over Catalina in Ntinda with Bwiire Mustapha and Jimmy Ssematta winning four of their five matches.
Boat Pool Club’s long trip to Masindi wasn’t a waste as they won 14-11 against Red Shooters while Masaka’s slashed Icon 17-08 at Club Icon Nansana.
