If there is anyone looking forward to Saturday, it is Philip Wokorach. He will be making his debut for the Rugby Cranes 15’s team.

“It is a special day and I want to take the opportunity given to me to perform,” Wockorach told Kawowo Sports ahead of the Elgon Cup game with Kenya this weekend.

The side-stepping wizard has been involved with the national sevens team but an injury ruled him out last year’s as the team gained promotion to tier 1A.

“I know many people are looking forward to seeing me in the 15’s team and I don’t want to disappoint them,” Wokorach, who scored the highest number of points in the national league this year, added.

He joins a predominantly young team as they try to defend the Elgon cup that was won at Legends last year. The full back is confident the team will perform regardless of who is in and who isn’t.

“The team doesn’t depend on individuals and whoever is on the pitch will have to give it his best, there is competition for numbers and no one is guaranteed of a number,” Head coach Robert Sseguya already revealed to Kawowo Sports that Wockorach will feature as a full back and not a winger.

The final team of 24 players will be named on Wednesday with the selected expected to start residential training on Thursday.
