AFCON 2017 Qualifier (Group D): Saturday, 4th June 2016
- Botswana Vs Uganda – Francistown Sports Complex
- 4 p.m Local time (5 p.m East African Standard Time)
If there are any Uganda Cranes players off the lips of many Botswana local fans, none scores immensely than Standard Liege (Belgium) midfielder Faruku Miya and Sonderjyske (Denmark) striker Emmanuel Arnold Okwi.
The two, who have combined 31 goals in 66 Uganda Cranes outings are the most talked about players in Botswana.
A survey conducted by the Botswana Gazette indicated Miya and Okwi are the most followed players ironically coming top ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns gangly goalie Dennis Onyango and Bloemfontein Celtics striker, Geofrey Massa who play in the neighboring South African premier league.
The Gazzette is quoted;
They are deadily players with a great work rate, they score and love to create goals for others
Okwi scored a brace when Uganda beat Botswana 3-2 in Gaborone during an international build up in 2013.
The former Simba Sports Club and SC Villa Jogoo player has already scored 18 goals in 42 matches.

Miya has 13 strikes to his name in 21 international matches.
The Gazette highlights the details of the players’ strong points during competition action.
“Okwi loves to shoot from distance to catch goalie napping. Miya releases the ball early to create space for the teammates and himself and ghosts late runs to the opposition area” the Gazzette analyses.
Miya is the second best top scorer on three goals in the current World Cup qualification campaign, a goal behind Algeria’s Islam Slimani.
