A football game is more like a guerilla war planned on a similar wave length.

From the famous ‘drawing board’ strategy where either sides plan through training and scouting on opposition to the final deployment, football and war are similar in approach.

Whichever side sticks religiously to the set guidelines, on top of that vital individual quality, then a winner will most likely be decided with ease.

Botswana hosts Uganda at Francistown sports complex, a ground where the hosts have not lost any game since its inception in 2015.

Kawowo Sports’ David Isabirye is in Francistown and has keenly followed the two countries preparations to ably assess which key battles will determine the final result at the end of the day.

Kabelo Dambe Vs Emmanuel Okwi:

Okwi is arguably the most feared Uganda Cranes player in Botswana. His record against the Southern Africans emits volume of expectations yet again.

Against the Township Rollers and Zebras’ number one goalie, the Danish based player who turns out for SønderjyskE comes under close scrutiny.

Tebogo Sosome Vs Geofrey Massa:

Massa is the Uganda Cranes captain, another famous player in Botswana given his employment in the neighboring South Africa with Bloemfontein Celtics. A battle with Galaxy F.C defender Sosome will be an interesting one.

Massa is full of energy and enthusiasm; he is as powerful as a lion that is on a mission to pounce on a prey. Sosome is powerful too and intelligent.  A great battle predicted.

Joel Mogorosi Vs Murushid Jjuuko:

Mogorosi is the Botswana Zebras captain.

The lanky Township Rollers forward will be up against the ever improving Jjuuko, who started his career with at Entebbe Young and Entebbe Red Cross.

Now at Simba S.C in Tanzania, Jjuuko is a perfect game reader and calm passer of the ball out of defence. How he manages an aggressive center half as Mogorosi will be a script worth to pen a 1000 words shortly after the game.

Omaatla Kebatho Vs Dennis Onyango:

Kebatho plays in South Africa with Vasco Da Gama in a league below PSL  where Onyango plays with champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Onyango has fully shaken off the hamstring worries and will be once again be the man tasked to thwart Kebatho and other Botswana strikers.

The gangly goalie, recently named the goalkeeper of the season in the PSL is a good game reader with individual brilliance especially in containing aerial threats and one-on-one incidents.

Onkabetse Makgantai Vs Tonny Mawejje:

Onkabetse is a good passer of the ball, so is Mawejje.

Mawejje though is an experienced lad who has played for the national team for over 10 years.

His battle with the Orapa United roving midfielder will be as eye catching as the famous eclipse of the moon.

Ofentse Nato Vs Khalid Aucho:

khalid aucho vs bot

Time immemorial, football battles unlike war are fiercely engaged and won in the middle of the pack. It could be the central midfield department or via dancing wingers whose mesmerizing skills and pace off the flank win their respective teams the vital result.

Township Rollers midfielder, Nato Ofenste is a darling to watch.

A battle with the Gor Mahia anchorman, Aucho, who has been linked to move to Scottish giants, Rangers, will be interesting. Either players can ably pass from short and long ranges.

Peter Butler Vs Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic

As the players shall be battling on the field of play, there is a technical and tactical fight that will be on the sidelines.

Either tacticians have prepared for each other. Whichever comes top with the best strategy, game plan and tactics will win the day.

Butler already lost 2-0 to Micho in Kampala.

Will this match be the platform to revenge in Francistown?
