For the first time in history, Sport-S have both their men and women teams in the finals of the Genocide Memorial Volleyball Tournament that ends on Sunday in Rwanda.

The ladies have defied odds by reaching the finals in only their second appearance at the games, after finishing third last year when thy lost 3-1 to Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC) in the third place playoff.

Sport-S led by Peace Busingye, Astreede Agaaba and Eunice Amuron defeated the same VVC side 3-0 in the semifinals on Sunday morning to make the finals where they will be playing Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) who defeated Nairobi Waters 3-2 to make their third straight final.

Sport-S women had defeated fellow Ugandan side Ndejje Elites 3-0 and lost to RRA 3-2 in the group stage to qualify for the semis and will surely have a score to settle with the side that has won the last two Genocide titles.

Sport-S men’s best position ever was a bronze medal in 2014, they saw off APR 3-2 (24-26, 21-25, 25-19, 25-17) in the semifinals to make the finals, the same APR that defeated Nemostars 3-1 in the quarter finals on Sunday.

Sport-S defeated APR and Kirehe 3-1 in the preliminary round but lost 3-1 to Inatek the same side they will be playing in the finals. They convincingly defeated Espoir 3-0 in their last eight hurdle.

On the other hand, Inatek defeated 2015 winner Rayon Sport in the quarterfinals before seeing off Nairobi Waters in the semis

If both sides can win their respectively finals, it will be a first for two Ugandan sides two achieve the feat in the same year but the first since KAVC men (1998, 1999, 2000), KAVC women (2001, 2002, 2003, 2009) and KCC women (1998, 1999, 2000)
