Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) president Moses Magogo maintains qualification to the African Cup of Nations tournament (AFCON) 2017 is not the bench mark to gauge his achievements as president of the football body.

Addressing the FUFA media press conference at Mengo in Kampala on Wednesday, Magogo noted;

AFCON 2017 qualification will be a bonus but our major target is to seek qualification to AFCON 2019 finals.

Magogo believes continuous performance at the highest level is the way to go than qualification then years of mediocrity.

We do not want to just qualify but make it a gradual process over the years. All our neighbors have been there (AFCON finals) in the last years but never returned

Only 90 minutes stand in Uganda Cranes’ way for the AFCON 2017 slot with the final game against Comoros coming on 3rd September 2016 at Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

 Uganda has not qualified to the Nations cup since Ghana 1978.
