Vipers can still afford a 1-0 loss in the Uganda Cup semi-final against KCCA but still make the finals thanks to a 2-0 away win on Wednesday.
Erisa Ssekisambu and Alfred Leku scored a goal each to give the immediate former league champions a two cushion but Coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe believes the tie is still far from over.
“I congratulate my boys upon the victory but they must know it’s still half time,” he told Kawowo Sports. “We have a two goal lead but we can’t get carried away. There is still a lot to play for in the second leg on Sunday,” he added.
Nsimbe, who is aiming to become the first coach to win the Uganda Cup for the Entebbe Road club heaped praise on his charges for playing according to instructions.
Before the game, we knew KCCA’s strength was marauding fullbacks and a strong midfield. The instruction was to deny them space and time on the ball, then press at high tempo and ensure we keep possession in their half which they boys did. Credit to them.
By far, the visitors were the better the side and truly deserved the win. A return leg is on this Sunday at Buikwe.
