Prior to the highly anticipated Uganda Cup semifinal first leg tie against KCCA, Vipers forward Erisa Ssekisambu warned his opponents that he would score and that his side would win the game.
True to his word, Vipers won the game with the ex-SC Villa, Express and URA striker set the tone for the visitors with a well taken opener.
Ssekisambu beat an offside trap, beat goalie Benjamin Ochan before slopping the ball into an empty to send the partisan crowd into frenzy.
“I told you,” he told Kawowo Sports. “After missing out on the league, we can’t afford letting the Uganda Cup slip away. That alone motivated I and my teammates before the game,” he added.
The Cranes forward who has now scored 23 goals for Vipers in the season also warned his side against complacency.
“We still have 90 minutes to play and anything can happen. In football, you never say never.”
Vipers need a draw to reach a third Cup final in five years.
