Four titles from six finals. Not a bad start to a season for a team that barely thought of winning a title two years ago.

Sport-S ladies have smoothly knocked Vision Volleyball Camp off their perch as Uganda’s most dominant volleyball team, at least going by the performance in the first six tournaments of the season.

After losing the first two finals to Ndejje Elites and VVC, it looked like the script would not change much with VVC and Ndejje tipped to dominate and share the titles between themselves.

“The titles will be shared by the three clubs this time round,” Sport-S’ new assassin Peace Busingye assured Kawowo Sports then.

She may not have been wrong since all the three clubs already have at least a piece of silverware but maybe she didn’t give her side enough credit then.

The Nsambya based side are now the team to beat. Ndejje’s arsenal has produced fewer missiles than anticipated at the start of the season while VVC have slowly but surely faded.

“It is all about training, we train hard and everyone is working hard,” Busingye told this website after the team were crowned champions of the Aporu Akol tournament over the weekend.

Sport-S defeated VVC 3-0 in the finals to register their third straight win over Hannington Nsubuga’s troops.

The KIU Open and the Mbarara open tournaments are the other.

Busingye and Sport-S also made light work of VVC in the semifinal of the recently concluded Rwanda Genocide memorial tournament which they went on to win.

Busingye, Astreed Agaba, Eunice Amuron and company will start the national league as favourites after the exploits exhibited in the open tournaments so far.
