AFCON 2017 Qualifier (Group D) – Sat, 3rd September 2016

When Uganda shall be playing Comoros in the last group D of the 2017 AFCON qualifier come 3rd September 2016, there is an assured full backing of a national federation – South Sudan Football Association.

This was confirmed by the South Sudan FA boss, Chabur Goc Alei who visited his Ugandan counter part, Moses Magogo on Monday at FUFA House, Mengo in Kampala.

Flanked by a host of accompanying officials, Chabur held bilateral talks with Magogo concerning football development in the two CECAFA member nations. the region and the continent as a whole.

As quoted by the official FUFA web portal, www.fufa.co.ug;

We shall support Uganda in September when the Cranes play Comoros.

We believe they will perform well. Uganda Cranes victory will be for the entire CECAFA region.

Magogo in his address to the visiting delegation noted;

Ugandans will always welcome the people of South Sudan anytime they wish to play football with us. We shall support the young nation in football.

Such meetings usually yield results and we are hopeful its purpose will lead to bigger things.

Chabur and the officials who accompanied him were then taken on a guided tour around FUFA House.

There are confirmed reports that South Sudan has already requested for Onduparaka defender Rashid Toha Per to officially join them for national duty.

The two countries have played one international build up match in 2012 that ended in a 2 all draw.
