Uganda women emerged winners of the Genocide memorial tournament on Saturday thanks to an impressive show that downed hosts Rwanda at Kicukiro cricket ground.

The Pearl defeated Rwanda by 39 runs after the former set 189 runs in 40 overs.

Rwanda failed, making 150 runs all out in 39.2 overs.

Uganda’s Immaculate Nakisuyi starred, making 46 runs for 65 balls as well as Hilda Kabaseke who complemented the teammate with 22 runs for 45 balls.

Rwanda’s coach and also former Uganda International Davis Turinawe was proud of his side and the lessons they learnt.

“The lessons we have taken today will only make us a better team, it was a good learning experience for our players,” he told New Times Rwanda.
