2016 Uganda Cup Final:

Saturday, 18th June 2016

Vipers vs. Onduparaka – Nakivubo Stadium, 4:00 pm

Vipers Chief Executive Officer, Peter Lwanga has hinted on respect to the opposition but assured his team will win against Arua side, Onduparaka in the 2016 Uganda Cup final this Saturday.

“We respect them (Onduparaka) for playing well but we are Vipers. We spike the opposition. We shall spike the Caterpillars” Lwanga said in reference to Onduparaka’s nick name.

The two sides that have never won the Uganda Cup are set to clash this Saturday at Nakivubo stadium in a highly billed final whose winner will earn a ticket to represent the country at the CAF Confederations Cup.

Lwanga had earlier on Wednesday filed a petition requesting FUFA to block Onduparaka’s captain, Muhammad Shaban from featuring in the final since he had been contracted for five years at Vipers.

FUFA in a statement threw out the petition on grounds that Vipers’s employment contract to the player was null and void since he was still a minor (below 18 years) by the time he penned the contract.

By the laws of Uganda, minors are not allowed to sign employment contracts.
