  • 1st Match: Kamuli Park Vs Busia United (2 p.m)
  • 2nd Match:  Kataka Vs Bugembe United (4 p.m)
  • Both Matches at Mbale Municipal Stadium

The barren and dusty Mbale Municipal stadium is the place to be this Monday as the Eastern Region playoffs roll off.

Four clubs are in contention for the available slot for the region in the 2016/17 FUFA Big League.

Hosts Kataka from Mbale and Kamuli district representatives, Kamuli Park are overwhelming favorites coming to the playoffs that kick off at 2 p.m.

The early kick off will be Kamuli Park against Busia United at 2 p.m.

In the subsequent fixture, Kataka will play Jinja district club, Bugembe United at 4 p.m.

Crowd darling, Peter Lusimbula, team captain of Kataka believes the play offs are close to call.

The left footed dribbler and incredible shooter of the ball attests to Kawowo Sports;

Every team has equal chances. We have prepared well and eager to give in our best for the match

The two finalists will meet on Wednesday to determine who qualifies to next season’s FUFA Big League.

During the 2015/16 season, Busia Fisheries was the promoted side.

Sadly though, CRO, a former top flight club was among the clubs demoted to the Mbale Regional League after dismissal performance in the past season.

Other successful playoffs:

Buganda held their play offs in Luwero with Kira United qualifying for the Big League after defeating Seeta United 5-4 on penalties (normal time ended goal-less).

Nyamityabora F.C qualified from the Western Region as Moroto F.C made history as the first club to make the grade from the North East Region.

In Kampala, Kyambogo F.C booked their berth at the expense of Kyabando after a nail biting finale played at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankuluku.

Chaos in Kitara Region:

The Kitara Region playoffs are yet to be played. There is still friction between the organizers and the teams over host district.

Originally, the Kitara Region playoffs had been scheduled for Hoima but organizers in a shocking twist shifted base the playoffs to Bundibunjo, a decision that is being protested by teams particularly Kitara F.C.
