Nkumba Lady Marines 67-93 JKL Lady Dolphins
JKL Lady Dolphins’ hard times in the National Basketball League are either behind them or yet to come.
Following a rough welcome into the top tier division that saw them lose the season opening couple of games in succession to heavy weights UCU Lady Canons and KCCA Leopards, new comers JKL are rolling.
The Peace Nakirijja captained side followed Sunday win over Lady Canons with a a 93-67 beat down of Nkumba Lady Marines on Wednesday evening at YMCA.
Power Forward, Purity Odhiambo poured in a season high 39 points to go with 11 rebounds as Dolphins posted their fifth on the bounce. Irene Nalumansi and Jamila Nansikombi contributed 15 and 13 points respectively in the rout and Alicia Wasagali chipped in with 9 points off the bench.
JKL jumped to a 21-10 lead after the opening period before overwhelming the university side 33-19 in the second quarter with Odhiambo netting 14 points in period and Dolphins never looked back.
Meanwhile, guard Brenda Ekone had a breakout 26 points and 5 assists for the Lady Marines in a losing effort.
Diana Nanjala and Ester Apolot scored 11 points apiece for Nkumba.
