For the second year running, Kawempe Muslim Secondary School women football club is the national league winner.

The triumphant side edged She Corporates women football club 4-2 after a penalty shoot out at Nakivubo Stadium on Sunday evening.

The shoot out followed a thrilling goal-less 90 minutes action played that before a lively crowd that constituted of students.

Kawempe Muslim captain Sandra Nabweteeme led by example with the opening penalty.

Hasifa Nassuna, Joan Nakirya and Yudaya Nakayenzi also scored their respective kicks from the penalty spot.

Halima Kembabazi and Zaina Mukaayla scored for She Corporates.

The only missed effort for Kawempe Muslim was for Fauza Nambatya after being foiled by the imposing She Corporates’ goalie, Fatuma Matovu.

On the other hand, Cissy Nantongo and Stellah Kaliba missed their kicks from the penalty mark – thanks to Ruth Aturo’s efforts.

This was the second time that Kawempe Muslim win the league, following last year’s heroics against Bukiwe She Red Stars. 

During a colourful prize giving ceremony held minutes after FIFA referee Anna Akoyi’s last whistle, Kawempe Muslim still had the biggest share.

Like the previous edition, Sandra Nabweteeme and Hafsa Nassuna smiled home with the top scorer and most valuable player of the tournament awards respectively.

Soroti based Olila football club won the fair play award as Fatuma Matovu of the She Corporates took the best goalkeeper accolade.
