Former Kira Young captain, Derrick Tekkwo has expressed displeasure at the way URA Football Club handled his contract following the club’s decision to offload him three weeks ago.

The four time league winners released nine players including last season’s top scorer Robert Ssentongo, Sulait Luyima, Brian ‘Ziggi’ Bwete, Saidi Kyeyune, Samuel Senkoomi, Yayo Kato Lutimba, Frank Kalanda, Savio Kabugo and Tekkwo on 8th June.

And the midfielder whose game time was reduced to four starts last season due to injuries has come out to voice his discontent at the club’s decision to sell him, enunciating breach of contract.

“I have a two year contract with them” stated a furious Tekkwo. “I got a serious injury, definitely that affected my first year with them but you can’t say I’m not legible yet you know the cause of my not performing”

“It’s a breach of contract when you (URA) say you are selling me against my will although you claim you will be paying my salary in the due cause of my sale”

A bitter Tekkwo whose contract with URA runs till 2017 also questioned the principles governing a ‘big’ Organization like URA.

“I thought URA is a big institution with honorable literates who understand what a contract means. I don’t mind them selling me but they have to let me finish my contract in a honourable manner”

The midfielder feels the club has not supported him enough during his challenging days and feels blamed for playing for the National team.

“What they are trying to mean is that the national team cost me my career at the club because I got it (injury) while playing for the National team”

Tekkwo injured his ankle while on National duty playing against Tanzania in the return leg of CHAN qualifiers on 4th July.
