Mamelodi Sundowns and FAR Rabat have first leg advantage in the semi-final of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League following first leg victories.

Sundowns overcame Tunisia’s Esperance 1-0 in Rades with Brayan Leon scoring the winner in the second half.

The forward headed home Thapelo Morena cross from the right five minutes after the break.

Espérance thought they had equalised in the 65th minute when substitute Aboubacar Diakité found the back of the net, but celebrations were cut short after a VAR review ruled the goal out for a foul on goal keeper Ronwen Williams.

Despite a red card to Grant Kekana in the 84th minute, the Brazilians held on for a crucial win ahead of the return leg on Sunday.

Earlier on Saturday, the Moroccan derby ended with FAR Rabat edging RS Berkane 2-0 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium in Rabat.

Second-half goals from Ahmed Hammoudan and Khalid Ait Ourkhan proved decisive in a closely contested tie watched by a capacity crowd.

The return leg will be played on Saturday April 18 with the winner moving to the final.
