In what will go down as one of his boldest personal decisions on earth, Bright Stars founding skipper, Bernard ‘Scholes’ Muwanga departed the team for the most successful club in Uganda – Sports Club Villa Jogoo albeit a ‘crossed’ mind.
Since the times of his primary school, Muwanga has been a loyal servant for the club that kick started in Kawempe division league fifth league.
The proud father of one school teacher – by-profession player, is a rigid orthodox central defender, often employed as a blocking midfielder.
Given his rich religious background, Muwanga has been cagey about the transfer to SC Villa often refuting reports linking him to the historic club.
He shared what is scripted on his heart for the Bright Stars family, a side he helped attain promotion from the lower tier levels to the Azam Uganda Premier league.
Leaving Bright Stars has been a difficult decision though inevitable.
Perhaps, i remain with special heartily attachments to the club.
Muwanga hitherto the end of June 2016 remained puzzled about the rampant news sections linking him to the Jogoos.
Mixed with profound excitement but with an emotional touch, he posted on his personal facebook wall;
I with sincerity thank the Bright stars family for nurturing me since my P.7 vacation into what I am today. All my coaches, fans and teammates.
I will miss the atmosphere at Mwelerwe but life is all about change for d better. S.C Villa is my next destination. So help me God
At SC Villa, he joins a side that demands instant results, one that is hungry for titles to add to the 16 league crowns in the cabinet.
Good enough, he is equipped with enough ammunition, measured in the experience of playing in the top flight as a skipper for three seasons and the recent Uganda Cranes expeditions.
Muwanga is a proud CECAFA Senior challenge cup winner (2015) and was a key player in the central midfield department for the Uganda Cranes at CHAN 2016 in Rwanda.
He departs the club alongside two other senior members – Joseph Nsubuga and goalie Mathias Kigonya.
Whereas Nsubuga and Muwanga were fully blessed by the ancestors at Bright Stars, Kigonya left as a stray child following the expiration of his contract.
The diminutive but immensely talented goalie has since joined the semi professional murky waters in the Kenya Premier league.
Bright Stars is set to undertake a massive re-organization stint with a couple of players expected to be shown the exit door ahead of the virgin season.
Impeccable sources from a couple of disgruntled players who requested not to be mentioned for fear of being pin- pointed indicate that the club is undergoing a serious turmoil with salary arrears dating as far back as March 2016.
Eager club loyalists are patiently awaiting what is in stock for their favorite club.
Time will definitely tell and Kawowo Sports will disclose the information to the masses as quickly as possible.
