The 2016 Rally of Tanzania could with no doubt provide some spine-tingling action with most crews eyeing the top position.
The event which is round four of Africa Rally Championship takes place on 8-10th July in Bagamoyo.
Uganda’s Duncan ‘Kikankane’ Mubiru has vowed to aggressively fight for a win.
“We are only going for a win, that’s all we are prepared for. We badly need the 140 points from Tanzania,” he asserts.
Mubiru registered a third place finish in last year’s Rally of Tanzania.
“We were not so determined last year like we are now. We shall go for each battle that comes our way.”
Mubiru is currently seventh in the Uganda Rally Championship having scored only 75 points so far. And his last hope of seeing any possibility of scooping this year’s National Rally Championship is in Rally of Tanzania.
Victory will see him tie in second with Ronald Sebuguzi on 215points.
“A win is the only chance for us to get back in the title contention, other than that we will be left with just fighting for the top three,” says Mubiru.
He will have George Semakula call the pace notes as he debuts his Mitsubishi Evo X in international events.
Other Ugandan crews in the Rally of Tanzania include current NRC leader Jas Mangat, Yasin Nasser and Christakis Fitidis.
