Experienced center player Ruth Meeme will captain the Uganda national university netball team to the United States of America.

The Nkumba University student who featured at the Netball World Cup was selected for her vast experience over the rest of the players that left the country on Sunday.

According to Rashid Mubiru, the head coach of the team, Meeme has the leadership abilities and enough experience to lead the rest of the players on board.

She has got that experience of playing at the biggest stage (World Cup) and has the leadership natural abilities.

Uganda Christian University’s Flavia Nakanwagi was appointed the vice captain.

12 players and five officials left Entebbe International Airport on Sunday led by the NUSUF president Peninah Kabenge and are expected to arrive in Miami at 4:25 p.m

Games start on Wednesday, 13th July 2016 as Uganda kick-starts the campaign against University of Worcester.

On Thursday, team Uganda will play Australia before playing Jamaica on the subsequent day.

This is the first time that Uganda is taking part at the World Netball University championship.
