The 2016 Rally of Tanzania registered seven foreign crews but only Uganda’s Christakis Fitidis took the top position among them.
Navigated by Eric Nzamwita, Fitidis moved his day one fourth position to fifth overall in what was a hotly contested race.
“The race was nice, the competition was tight with many dropping out. We managed to finish in top five with our car still intact,” said Fitidis.

Fitidis not only topped the foreign slot but also finished as the best Ugandan crew among the four that participated.
“Uganda was represented well even when it’s only us and Yasin who finished the event, but we represented the rest.”
Fitidis and Nzamwita collected 56 points from Tanzania to move into fourth place in the Uganda championship. The crew now has 146 points.
Meanwhile, Yasin Nasser finished eighth overall. Jas Mangat and Duncan Mubiru retired on day one of the event.
