Zambia’s Muna Singh Jr believes the chase for this year’s African title is not over yet.
Singh was tipped to top the ARC category in Tanzania and claim the lead but was forced into an early retirement in the first stage of the event.
“Nothing seemed to go our way in Tanzania, everything was fine until half way through the first stage and the accelerator pedal came loose,” explains Singh.
“I decided to drive to the end of the stage then try to fix it, with only 6km to go we caught a flat and again I decided to drive to the end of the stage.”
“The wrong decision I took led to our retirement, the tyre ripped off and the rim cracked and shredded to pieces a lot happened till we considered ourselves out,” said Singh.

Singh remains on 50points, with a wide gap of 29 points behind ARC leader Don Smith.
With two events remaining; Singh may need more than just luck to assume the lead.
“I decided to take on the next ARC event. I guess I will win in any case, what happened to me could happen to my rival. I will either gain experience or win the championship after the remaining events,” he asserts.
“We have to hope for Don to fall out in one of the remaining two events and we have to win both events. The possibility is small but it’s there,” he added.
