SC Villa must dip their toe into the transfer market before deadline passes if they want any chance of winning silverware.
The Jogoos have already signed a dozen players in the window alongside a new technical staff but almost all the signings are defensive minded.
Looking on from last season, only Umar Kasumba remains as a recognized centre forward and it’s clear, the former Police man cannot carry the weight of goal scoring on his own and thus Misagga must go for another front man quickly.
Last season, the record league champions scored a paltry 36 league goals and suffered a drought of over five successive matches without a goal at the start of the second round.
In Mike Sserumaga, Mike Ndera, Ambrose Kirya, Robert Achema, Martin Kizza and Abdul Karim Kasule, Deo Sserwadda has midfielders with a knack of scoring but none can occupy the central role in case Kasumba is out.
Kirya enjoyed a scoring spree in the first half of the season but his goals dried up as the season waned while Achema and Sserumaga were inconsistent and so was Kizza.
Not even the young forwards have the capacity to lead the line on their own.
Many Defenders
Maybe conceding 23 league goals prompted the club to go on a hunt for defenders but it remains a big selection headache for Sserwadda and company.
The side kept Henry Katongole and the versatile Paul Mbowa but have still added Bernard Muwanga, Ayub Kisaliita and Ibrahim Kiyemba into their ranks.
