Vipers have appointed former KCCA and Proline Coach Abdallah Mubiru as their head coach on a three year deal.

The soft spoken tactician who has been out of premiership management for year was unveiled to the press and players at Imperial Resort Beach, Entebbe on Monday.

Mubiru will be assisted by his former boss at KCCA, George ‘Best’ Nsimbe while Edward Golola falls to third in the pecking order.

His experience will be vital to the Uganda Cup champions and his re-union with Nsimbe, with whom they won back to back league titles in 2012/13 and 2013/14 will also improve the side.

Mubiru began top tier division coaching at Proline in the 2011/12 season but was surprisingly sacked midway the campaign although the club was in the top five.

His last coaching job in the premier league was at KCCA in the 2014/15 season before he was replaced by Mike Mutebi and Sam Ssimbwa.

In this season’s ongoing Masaza Cup, the former Kibuli SS coach handled Ssingo but couldn’t help them past the group stages of the competition.

Among the tasks in front of him, is retaining the Uganda Cup, reclaiming the league and also taking Vipers to the CAF Confederations Cup group stages.
