Okwong wins Mehta Golf open after a tense sudden death contest

By the 10^th hole, 2016 Mehta Golf open overall winner, Titus Okwongcarried a 4 shot lead ahead of the leading pack.

Perhaps, a double bogey shot on the par 4 fairway nearly cost him the title as Adolf Muhumuza played catch up.

He faltered again on the 15^th hole and by the final 18^thpin, the two golfers were level on 140 gross.

This called for the sudden death on the par 3 hole number 18.

“My putting was not up to the task on the final round. However, I am glad to have composed himself to put it home after the sudden death”Okwong told Kawowo Sports.

Mehta club member Clovis Kasangako tallied 142 gross to finish third and Joel Basaline was a stroke behind to take fourth place.

Youngester Godfrey Nsubuga was the group A winner whilst Samuel Bogere took the group B bragging rights.

Focus for the domestic golfers turns to the 74th Uganda open that tees off next month at the Uganda Golf Club, Kampala.
