Three weeks into their pre-season training, SC Villa Coach Deo Sserwadda is impressed with the players’ reaction.
In a brief interview with Kawowo Sports after Tuesday morning training session at Villa Park Nsambya, Sserwadda said so far all is well.
“To be sincere, the players’ reaction to training since my arrival has been fantastic,” he said. “Everyone is co-operative and are aware of the task ahead of next season,” he added.
Asked on whether he feels his side is ready for the 2016-17 campaign, Sserwadda reacted in approval.
If the season started today, I feel my team is ready although we are in recovery stage after physical drills in the maiden week.
Possibility of new additions
The record league champions have so far signed a dozen players but the former URA tactician who played as a left back during his days at SC Villa says the door is open for at least three more additions.
The window isn’t closed yet and if we can get 2-3 right players, we shall sign them. A utility player and forward thinking will do.
Last season, the 16-times league winners finished fifth on the log and were eliminated at the round of 32 in the Uganda Cup by eventual finalists Onduparaka.
Club President Ben Misagga has revealed that short of winning a trophy next season will be deemed a failed one and thus Sserwadda and company are aware.
