Pre-season Match: Express 13-0 Kimme
Express Football club ‘Mukwano Gw’a bangi – Square pass’ is on fire in the pre-season.
The Wankulukuku based club recorded arguably the most flattering scoreline of the pre-season thus far with a complete 13-0 humiliation of Kimme, a non league team.
Yayo Lutimba, returning from a largely disappointing season at Uganda Revenue Authority set the ball rolling with a 10th minute strike, a powerful left footed attempt past a stranded goalkeeper.
Ten minutes later, Yaffesi Mubiru made it two before doubling the personal tally in the 26th minute.
On the half hour mark, a one Muhammed, one the many players on trial at the Buganda leaning club made it four before the man of the moment Mubiru grabbed his hat-trick five minutes later which was Express’ fifth goal on the red letter day.
Dread-locked midfielder, Allan Kyambadde could not fail to register his name on the scorer sheet in the goal galore with a solo customary finish, a trade mark from the classic player loaned to Express by the reigning Uganda Cup winners, Vipers.
By the half time mark, the writing was well pasted on the wall that Kimme were destined for a massacre.
Towering cross-legged goalie Emmanuel Opio borrowed time to get from his goal posts and calmly convert a penalty after Lutimba had been brought down in the forbidden area.
The half time score read in bold 7-0 as the two teams’ players headed for the mandatory break.
Express changed a complete new team for the second stanza.
On the hour mark, Barsel Bogere fired in the roof of the net with a stunning effort from about 20 yards.
Rogers Lukwiya, brother to former Kira Young captain, Derrick Tekkwo (also at Express from URA) scored the ninth goal.
Hassan Muudu jumped heads and shoulders over the defenders with a glancing header off Kayongo Muhammad’s well delivered free-kick for the 10th goal as traffic went one way.
Lukwiya then had his second on the day, which was Express’ 11th and Robert Kalanda (young brother to striker Frank Kalanda now at Soana) scored the 12th.
The Red Eagles’ final nail in the well vanished coffin of Kimme was sealed by Martin Bunjo, another new face at Wankulukuku.
The victory created an euphoric atmosphere at Wankulukuku among the partisan Red Army that sacrificed their precious time to catch the match always watched by the returning head coach Alex Mulibanga Gitta.
Express on Monday landed an invitation to the inaugural Phillip Omondi Invitation tournament slated for this Saturday and Sunday at their Lugogo astro turf stadium.
Proline and crowd darling, Lweza are the other clubs invited. Each of the clubs is guaranteed Shs500,000 participation fee to help them in preparation.
Express will start the new season with the highly billed Wankulukuku derby against their ‘noisy neighbors’ Lweza, a club with whom they share the same playing facility.
