Going into the 31st Edition of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Kennedy Katende carried some medal hopes for Uganda.

However, the hopes are no more as the Light Heavyweight boxer has been knocked out by Britain’s Josua Buatsi at the Round of 32.

Katende, 31, who has often based in Sweden where he built his career and also represented the country at the Beijing Games in 2008 has been beaten via a Technical Knock Out in the third round.

The All-Africa Games bronze medalist is the first of Uganda’s 21 athletes to get out of medal contention at the Rio Games.
