Playing in their third straight finals at the 2016 NSSF-KAVC International, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) failed to complete a three-peat.
The Rwandan outfit lost to Kenyan side Aspire 3-0 in the final played on Sunday at Lugogo.
Aspire were led by arguably the best female volleyball player on the continent Mercy Moim, and fellow Kenyan internationals including middle blocker Blackside Agala, setter Jane Wacu and Lydia Mayo.
And that assembled experience on show was too much for RRA as they could not even get to the 20 points mark in all the three sets they lost, falling 25-10, 25-18, 25-16.
Nkumba remains the last local women’s side to win the championship when they did so in 2013 at their maiden appearance, they also did defeat RRA in the semis to reach the finals then.
