Team Uganda’s pursuit for Olympic Gold in Rio de Janeiro got underway on the Day 3 on the Games that officially kicked off on Friday.

Two athletes were in action but there was nothing to smile about in the end.

Light Heavyweight boxer Kennedy Katende and swimmer Jamila Lunkuse could not go past the Round of 32 and Heats respectively.

Shortly after Katende had been technically knocked out in the third round, Lunkuse took the pool in Heat 2 of the Women’s 100m Breaststroke.

Despite a good reaction time, Lunkuse came last in Lane 8 after clocking 1:19.64 and her journey in the Rio blue waters ended on day one.
