FUFA Super Cup 2016:

KCCA vs. Vipers – Wankulukuku, 4:00 p.m

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed the venue of this year’s Super Cup as the Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.

The confirmation was done by Ali Mwebe, the federation competitions director on Monday.

“We shall have the FUFA Super Cup of 2016 at the Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku. Detailed programme of the event will be released mid-week,” he stated.

Wankulukuku was confirmed after the unavailability of Nakivubo stadium which is still closed down over debts owed to Uganda Revenue Authority in taxes accruing to as much as Shs400M.

KCCA FC, league winners of the 2015/16 Uganda Premier League will face Uganda Cup holders Vipers in a clash many anticipate to be epic.

Given the magnitude of expectations ahead of the rich season, either camps are raring for a killer to atleast start the new season on a sound note.

Both clubs have reinforced their respective squads with KCCA having a lion’s share of new recruits to their side.

Veterans Geoffrey Sserunkuma, Vincent Kayizzi were joined by youngsters Dennis Rukundo, winger Brian Majwega, goalkeeper Douglas Kisembo as well as a host of players on the verge of signing (Brian Ochwo, Isaac Muleme, Isaac Kirabira and goalkeeper Charles Lukwago).

Vipers on the other hand ushered in a new coach, Abdallah Mubiru and sought for the youth signing Ibrahim Kayiwa (from Express) and winger Brian Kakaire (Vaxjo, in Sweden) with a couple of players graduating from their junior side.

Both clubs have been engaged in the pre-season with friendlies. Vipers defeated Buikwe Red Stars 3-0 before winning 1-0 over JMC Hippos and Sadolin Paints at Njeru and Bugembe respectively.

KCCA defeated Nabuuti United 4-0, over came Kamuli Select 2-0, won 3-1 against Mutima Musagi clan team and most recently played in the Phillip Omondi Invitational tournament.
