Varying expectations from golfers, the eager gallery and officials are definitely riding high ahead of the official tee-off of the 74th Uganda Golf Stroke play championship at the par 72 Uganda Golf Club Course.

Dawie Kynsmith, a South African based consultant who was hired to prepare the course for the Open and future use rates the work done at 9 on a scale of 10.

The course is in the best shape for the Uganda Open, which is the biggest event on the calendar.

The fair ways, greens, rough, bunkers are all good to go. The weather has been favorable this has made the work easy for us.

Kynsmith still has one day before he returns to South Africa and that is Wednesday.

It is the day that the open will tee off with the main event.

Good that I will watch the opening round and see how the golfers fare before I return to South Africa.

Kynsmith has been working hand in hand with the new greens keeper George Olayo, the club’s longest serving machine operator Umar Samuel Wamala Sserugunda and a host of causal laborers on the course.

Atleast 200 golfers will play at this year’s Uganda Golf Open (amateurs) whose official practice round was on Tuesday.

Tee off is Wednesday at 8 a.m.
