Kick Off: 4pm

Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku

Following close to three months of off season, the football season is back.

All roads lead to Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku where last season’s league champions, KCCA take on Uganda Cup winners Vipers on Sunday.

Last season’s meetings

The two sides met four times; twice in the league and as many in the Cup with each winning once and drawing the rest.

The draws were registered in the league (2-2 at Buikwe & 0-0 at Nakivubo) whilst Vipers won 2-0 in the first leg of the Uganda Cup away from home before losing 1-0 at home in the return match.

Key Players

At the moment, it’s difficult to point at a player that will make the difference in the game given its still pre-season.

However, all eyes will be on new signings at the respective clubs to showcase what the fans should expect.

For KCCA, Vincent Kayizzi, Geoffrey Sserunkuma and Brian Majwega will need to prove a point on their return to Lugogo while Brian ‘Kaka’ Kakaire, Musa Esenu and Ibrahim Kayiwa are the men to watch for the Venoms.

Team News:

KCCA Hassan Wasswa Dazo and Jackson Nunda ended the season injured and haven’t trained with the club since pre-season sessions started.

Paul Mucureezi and Muzamiru Mutyaba are fit again and thus expected to have to get playing time.

For Vipers, there are no injury worries ahead of the game with Kayiwa and Kakaire back in training.

Competition Rules

  • The winners walk away with a trophy and 30 gold medals.
  • If the game ends in a tie after 90 minutes, FIFA Spot kicks will decide the winner.
  • A team can make as many as seven substitutions.
  • Any player licensed or not can feature in the game.
