Disgruntled former Soana football club head coach, Charles Ayiekho ‘Mbuzzi’ Lukuula has catergorically come out to hint on the reasons that prompted his resignation hardly two days to the 2016/17 Uganda Premier league kick off.

In an exclusive interview with Kawowo Sports on Wednesday evening, Ayiekho cited interference into his work by the club president Smart Obedi.

We have always had well defined boundaries that separated our duties. The moment he (Obed) crossed that thin line, i had to give up

Actually, I am doing this to set a precedent so that bosses know that football coaches deserve respect

Ayiekho resigned two days to the start of the 2016/17 season where Soana has already traveled to Arua for a date against newly promoted Onduparaka.

To be specific, Ayiekho believes coaches should be left to work independently as far as recruitment and team line up selection is concerned.

I am the sacrificial lamb but it will go down in history of Uganda’s football as the coach who sacrificed his job because of interference from club owners.

I know, i will get a job where roles are clearly defined.

Ayiekho follows Alex Isabirye who laid down the tools at Bul citing similar reasons – interference in his line of duties from other club officials

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
