Vipers’ Coach Abdallah Mubiru believes the license mess that saw three of his players miss the 1-1 draw against Bright Stars played a role in the result on the day.
Alfred Leku, William Wadri and Brian Kakaire were all in the match day squad but less than an hour to kick off; a communication from FUFA indicated their licenses hadn’t been processed.
“It messed up our game plan,” Mubiru told Kawowo Sports. “Leku was in the starting team while Wadri and Kakaire were part of the reserves and so all that changed,” he added.
The Venoms ended up with just six substitutes on the bench with two players drafted on the team at the last minute.
Nevertheless, the ex-Proline and KCCA Coach was disappointed with the result as well as performance from his boys.
“It’s not the result we targeted but we take it. We didn’t create enough scoring opportunities and conceded a poor goal.”
Record signing Musa Esenu made his league debut for the Kitende based side and his only contribution was a header that kissed the bar before flying over.
“He is still a young striker with a lot of potential but still has a lot to improve. As coaches, we shall do all we can to exploit his potential.”
The soft spoken tactician promised the team will put up a better show in the next game when they host Police on Tuesday.
The team was missing last season’s leading striker, Erisa Sekisambu as well as new signing from Express, Tony Odur who are in Lebanon for trials.
