Zimbabwe Premier League (Week 20):

  • Dynamos 2-1 Harare City
  • Bulawayo City 3-1 CAPS United
  • Triangle 1-2 FC Platinum
  • Border Strikers 2-0 Ngezi Platinum
  • Chicken Inn 1-0 Tsholotsho

Giants Dynamos, Bulawayo City, Platinum and Chicken Inn all earned victories on match day 20 of the Zimbabwe Premier League on Sunday.

Dynamos put to an end a six match losing streak with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Harare City at the Rufaro stadium in the Mbare township of Harare City

Lloyd Mutasa’s boys took the lead through former Bidvest Wits and University of Pretoria attacking midfielder Denver Mukamba in the 57th minute after great inter-play that involved Masimba Mambare.

Jerry Chipangura found the equalizer for the visiting team 17 minutes to the full time mark.

Ocean Mushure then converted a penalty, awarded after Chiveya had brought down Amidu in the forbidden area to give the Dembare the precious three points in the bag.

Quoted by the city radio, Nehanda Radio, Mukamba was grateful for the strike;

I am very happy to score my first goal after a long time. It was a Harare derby, it was not easy and for the last five matches I had not scored.

So today I am very happy. From Monday the coach saw me working very hard at training and the coach said I must go and play as a striker and I managed to do that.

As a player I am free to play any position and in the next match at Ngezi Platinum, if he (coach) gives me that position again, I will push as I did today.

Expect more goals to come from me as we are left with 10 matches.

In my first game against ZPC Kariba, I hit the post so I am happy to score at Rufaro after a long time

At the Barbourfields stadium Bulawayo City, the home side stunned CAPS United 3-1. Mkukhuli Moyo and Trevor Ndlovu’s brace capped the icing on the cake before Devon Chafa found a late consolation.

At the Gibbo Stadium, FC Platinum won 2-1 away from home at Triangle. Nqobizitha Masuku’s 8th minute was canceled bynTichaona Mapungwana nine minutes later but Tarisai Rukanda found the winner barely seven minutes left on the clock for the mandatory half time break..

Ten man Chicken Inn overcame Tsholotsho 1-0 at the Luveve Stadium. Thabani Gorodema scored the solitary strike in a fixture Chicken Inn’s Obadiah Tarumbwa was sent for an ‘early shower’ following a second bookable offence.

In Beitbridge, Ngezi Platinum lost 2-0 to Border Strikers to suffer their second consecutive loss. Clever Muyendebure took full responsibility to score as early as the 2nd minute of the game before Tabwe Kalunga doubled the lead in the 55th minute.

Ngezi Platinum could even afford to miss a penalty when Talent Sande watched on in disbelief after his weak attempt was well saved.

The penalty arose following Michael Mwenya’s handball in the area.
