Boxer Sharif Bogere has acquired the services of seasoned trainer and Hall of Fame inductee Thell Torrence after parting ways with disgruntled former, Kenny Adams.

The Ugandan sacked Adams over conflicts surrounding his religious schedule, that the former claimed was interfering with his ring activities.

Bogere has now contracted Torrence, a former middleweight boxing professional in during the 1960s – who will prepare him for his fight on September 16.

He has worked with 10 world champions; including Hasim “The Rock” Rahman, Heavy-Weight Champions Riddick Bowe, Ken Norton, Heavy-Weight Champion Tony Tobbs, Three Time World Champion Mike McCallum and Welterweight Champion Hedgeman Lewis.

Torrence, born in Arkansas, and attended Lincoln High School in Camden, Arkansas. He was voted “The Best AlI-Around Athlete” when he graduated in 1955.

He turned professional in 1959, and was a World Rated Jr. Middle-Weight. One of his most outstanding bouts was with two-time World Champion Denny Moyer in 1964, when he held him to a draw.

Mr. Torrence retired from boxing in 1968, entered the real estate market and later purchased the Hoover Street Gym in Los Angeles, California.

Jimmy Alex, Bogere’s manager feels his boxer has made the right move, one he much deserved as compared to his previous trainer.

“Bogere is a unique person, well disciplined with a good heart and a hard worker. He is like a son to me. He deserves better things and I know Torrence will like him,” he told Daily Monitor.
