CECAFA General Secretary Nicholas Musonye has congratulated Uganda Cranes upon ending the elusive wait for an appearance at the Africa Nations Cup finals.

The Cranes, over the weekend beat Comoros 1-0 through Farouk Miya to qualify as one of the best second placed sides in the campaign to Gabon.

“I congratulate the Cranes upon qualifying for AFCON,” he told a CECAFA media briefing in Nairobi, Kenya. “As CECAFA, we are so happy for one of our own and the entire region should emulate the Cranes and work hard,” he added.

Musonye, who also revealed Kenya, will host the 2016 Kagame Cup and Senior Challenge Cup said that the target is to have at least three CECAFA nations in Cameroon 2019.

Let’s work hard towards ensuring we have at least three teams during the next edition in Cameroon come 2019.

The region had last had representatives at AFCON in 2004 when the Harambee Stars and Amavubi of Rwanda featured in Tunisia.
