When Ethiopia and Tanzania play on Friday in the last group round game of the 2016 CECAFA Women Championship whoever tops Group B will be Uganda’s opponent at the semifinals that start on Sunday.

However that won’t make Crested Cranes coach Majidah Nantanda have sleepless nights ahead of the knockout stage.

“It doesn’t matter who we play in the semis,” said the former Ugandan international after guiding her side past Burundi to finish second in Group A on Thursday.

“We are here to compete for the title, so whoever we play we shall give our best to get a result that takes us to the next stage,” she added.

Uganda’s lone striker against Burundi was scored by 17 year old Fazira Ikwaput at the stroke of half time.

Ikwaput’s well timed run put her in right position to control Jean Seninde’s long pass before putting it past the Burundian custodian.

“We are really great for the win because we worked hard for it, the coaches have been supportive, the fans were also tremendous, that really pushed us and we came out on top,” Seninde said in the post match press conference.

The lone strike was Uganda’s tenth of the campaign and the third for Ikwaput after her brace against Zanzibar as Uganda won 9-0.

The Harambee Starlets of Kenya topped Group A following their 11-0 win over Zanzibar, and advanced to the knockout stage with a 100 percent record having scored 19 goals and conceded none in three games.
