Kireka Utd 3-0 Boma Young
Kireka United kicked off their 2016-17 Big League campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Boma Young on Thursday 15th, at Namboole play ground.
Shafik Mulangira opened the scoring for the hosts in the 15th minute after calmly controlling an inviting cross from winger, Dennis Ssenyonga to slot it past the goalkeeper from inside the box.
Derrick Juruwa who had troubled the visitor’s defense right from the first whistle was finally rewarded in the 37th minute as his strike extended the lead, and the dominant side deservedly ended the first half with a two goal advantage.
With twelve minutes to fulltime, Substitute Richard Musali made it three as Kireka who looked vibrant and goal hungry completely outplayed their opponents.
It was a perfect start for the side that ended last season’s campaign seventh with 33 points, thirteen off Masavu who took the final playoff spot in Rwenzori group.
Meanwhile, having survived the drop last season by just four points, Boma’s start indicated that little or nothing had changed. The side was completely dominated and only had their first shot on target come in the dying minutes of the game.
Kireka play Bumate next on Thursday next week while Boma are out of action.
