Soana vs Police – Kavumba, 4:30pm

Sam Ssimbwa will get his first taste of the Kavumba derby when his Soana side takes on Police on Tuesday 20th, at Kavumba Recreational ground.

Ssimbwa could not have asked for a better start to life at his new club with Soana going into tomorrow’s game placed fifth in the league, with seven points having lost just once in their opening four fixtures.

Unlike their opponents who have managed to register only draws at home this season, Soana have picked up maximum points from the same ground, with the latest win coming against premier league new boys Kirinya-Jinja SS ten days ago.

Despite admittedly knowing little about the team, the former KCCA tactician guided Soana to a 3-1 victory over The Saints in his first game in charge of the side. That win was however, followed by a 2-0 defeat to defending champions KCCA a fortnight ago, but Ssimbwa and his boys bounced backed with a 1-0 victory over Kirinya last Saturday.

Police who finally registered their first win of the season against Sadolin Paints last Saturday will play the host team to their local rivals trailing them by two points in the premier league.

Police have not seen the back of the net in front of their home fans, and defeat to Soana particularly by a few goals, would certainly not help the mood amongst the Police faithful who have already seen their team lose miserably this season in that 4-0 loss to Vipers.

While the Cops keep struggling upfront, their defense has somewhat been solid and has been of much value to the team despite conceding four goals. The side has kept three clean sheets thus far.

However, they come up against one of the attack minded sides that boasts of some of the exciting forwards like Patrick ‘Crespo’ Asiku, Allan Kayiwa, Dan Wagaluku and Emmanuel Kalyowa who are capable of hurting even the best defenders in the league.

Police currently lie ninth in the league and a win over Soana could see them dislodge their opponents who lie fifth.

Victory for Soana meanwhile, could elevate them to the summit depending on the day’s other results.
