Express Coach Alex Gitta was left to bemoan the ‘unnecessary’ league break and poor officiating after his side lost 1-0 to Bul on Tuesday.

The Red Eagles saw their four unbeaten game run ended thanks to Milton Kaliisa’s 28th minute strike at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.

“If you have realised, our performance after every the break is bad,” Gitta told Kawowo Sports. “But again, the officials mishandled our game. We were denied a clear penalty and the first assistant always rose for offside even when there wasn’t,” he added.

The hosts started the game minus striker Herman Wasswa but after just an hour, he was thrown into the fray as the search for an equaliser gathered momentum.

Gitta admitted that the tactics had backfired as the players failed to play as instructed. “The target was to have more midfielders and ball players who could keep the ball but then, we realised it wasn’t working.”

Express’ next game is away to Vipers on Friday with the visitors ready to bounce back.
