Police 0-3 Soana
Soana downed Police 3-0 in the Kavumba derby on Tuesday, with Sam Ssimbwa’s side turning in a completely dominant display at Kavumba Recreational ground as Ssimbwa delivered in his first Soana-Police derby.
Newly acquired striker Frank Kalanda scored twice as Soana dominated the contest that saw Police’s wait for a first home win this season extended.
Midfielder Kamada Ssebagala delivered an immaculate pass for Kalanda who gave his side a deserved lead in the 36th minute with his first goal for the club since joining from URA before Emmanuel Kalyowa, another new signing from Lweza doubling the lead in the 69th minute making it a new boys’ affair.
Kalanda was at it again as he made it 3-0 in the 78th minute with his second strike of the season making it seven goals for Soana in three home games on an evening that offered further evidence of Ssimbwa’s growing influence at a club he joined on the opening day of the season.
Having registered their first win of the campaign ten days ago at Bugembe Stadium against Sadolin Paints, expectations were high heading into Tuesday’s encounter, but aside from a couple of counter attacks, there was little to show from a police side that has failed to score from home soil.
The result elevated Soana to the third position in the league with 10 points, two below table leaders KCCA while downing Police to eleventh.
Soana are at home to Bright Stars in their next league encounter while Police travel to Arua for a date with new premier league boys Onduparaka
