Maroons 1-0 Simba
Patrick Kaddu’s second goal of the campaign earned Maroons their first win in the FUFA Big League as they beat Simba 1-0 on Thursday at Luzira Prisons ground in their second game of the season.
The prisoners could have comfortably won the game, but were undone by poor finishing and had to settle for Kaddu’s ninth minute tap in to secure all the three points.
The hosts missed golden goal scoring chances to convincingly win the game with the best opportunities falling on winger Rapheal Winju and Solomon Walusimbi’s path.
Simba who were playing their third game of the season had their own moments mainly from crosses and corners kicks, but hardly made their efforts count as goalkeeper Jamil Maliyamungu was left untested for much of the game.
Maroons coach Asaph Mwebaze handed Mustafa Kiiza and Ronald Kikonyogo (on loan from KCCA) their club debuts as they replaced Maxwell Okello and Yahya Luuti on the starting lineup.
Eddy Kapampa, Allan Anguyo and Richard Ayiko maintained their places at the back as did Ronald Orombi in midfield, and upfront, Walusimbi started alongside Winju and Kaddu.
Maroons travel to Arua to take on Doves All Stars in their next game on Thursday 6th. Simba meanwhile will be out of action.
