Soana vs. URA – Kavumba, 4:00 pm
Two sides in contrasting form go head to head at Kavumba Recreational ground on Saturday as one of the league’s inform team Soana host underwhelming URA in the Uganda Premier league.
Soana who sit fourth in the premier league table coming into this fixture will be looking for a third win in five matches having drawn their last two games. The side drew goalless against Bright Stars last Saturday before becoming the first team to score against SC Villa this season in their 1-1 draw on Tuesday.
New boy Frank Kalanda scored for the Kavumba side as SC Villa- Soana ended in a stalemate, leaving Sam Simbwa’s side unbeaten in four league games.
Kalanda, scorer of two goals against Police in the Kavumba derby last week on Tuesday is expected to unforgivingly turn guns to his former employers- who seem clueless and out of ideas at the moment- as a starting berth awaits him in Ssimbwa’s team.
At home, Soana have produced some of the league’s scintillating displays this season. Local rivals Police are among the three teams that have faced Soana’s wrath having suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat on match day five.
Only Bright stars managed to leave Kavumba with smiling faces after containing Soana and drawing 0-0. It was the first time Soana failed to score a goal at home.
After seemingly mastering the art of recording draws this term, URA were subjected to their first league defeat of the campaign on Tuesday by a team that hadn’t scored a league goal let alone win a game in their opening six fixtures, Sadolin Paints.
Despite Shafic Kagimu’s 63rd leveler, URA who looked to have secured their sixth stalemate surrendered all the three points in stoppage time as Norman Ojik grabbed the winner, and that was it for Kefa Kisala’s side.
Unlike their attacking line that has tried to deliver so far, the tax collectors’ defending has been of a great concern, and signs of improvement are yet to surface with Kisala witnessing his side concede at least a goal in each of their last six games. Only once has the side kept a clean a sheet, and that was on the opening day of the season against newcomers Kirinya-Jinja SSS.
They come into this one placed ninth with eight points, a second successive loss could see them drop to twelve.
