Vipers Coach Abdallah Mubiru is hopeful midfield gem Deus Bukenya will be fit for the clash against Proline due next week after the international break.
The versatile player limped off midway the second half last Friday as Vipers won 2-1 against KCCA in a one sided affair at Nakivubo stadium in which he scored a stunning volley.
“He is a very important player on the team,” said Mubiru. “The doctors have given him a week out and we hope he is fit by the time we travel to Proline,” he added.
Already, the two-time champions have no Siraje Sentamu who is arguably their best defensive midfielder and wouldn’t want to lose another key player in the position.
Hassan Wasswa Mawanda, Brian Nkuubi and Geoffrey Wasswa are other Vipers player that can fill the void though.
Bukenya has played all his side’s fixtures this season including partnering Shafik Bakaki at centre back when Halid Lwaliwa was in the sickbay.
