UCU Lady Canons 73-35 JKT Stars

UCU Lady Canons made easy prey of Tanzanian side JKT Stars to remain unbeaten at the ongoing FIBA Zone V Club Championship in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The Ugandan side had a good start and put the home side to the sword to finish the first quarter with a comprehensive 9-point lead (19-10).

The 9 points became 18 (38-20) at half time as Nick Natuhereza’s charges continued to dominate their opponents.

The second half further brought the best out of the university side as they limited JKT to 11 points in the third quarter and scored 20 on the other end to carry a 27-points lead (58-31) into the final quarter.

The Ugandan outfit scored 15 in the last 10 minutes and limited their opponents to just 4 points to ease to a commanding 73-35 win in their fourth game at the event.

The win puts UCU in a much better position in their quest for the title. Yet to face unbeaten USIU and Rwandan side Ubumwe in the round Robin event, UCU now find themselves closer to the title than ever before.

The Lady Canons now need to win one of their remaining two games to qualify for the Afrobasket (Women) Club Championship.

Guards Ritah Imanishimwe and Rachael Muwanguzi led the scorers with 14 and 12 points respectively for the Lady Canons.
