Lweza Football Club head coach Ibrahim Kirya has hailed his team’s second half performance against Bugembe based side, Sadolin Paints on Tuesday.
A point earned in the league is good enough.
I salute my players for a spirited second half performance.
Lweza fell behind to a shocking goal from Norman Ogik inside the opening five minutes of the game at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukukuku on match day nine.
In fact, Lweza, a club which trains at Kajjansi but hosts their home matches at Wankulukuku would have conceded more than two goals in just 45 minutes had it not been the superb goalkeeping by Brian Bwete.
Fred Kyambadde missed a one against one incident before Robert Achema, on loan from SC Villa had a shot from distance tipped over the bar by Bwete.
Kirya was forced to make a first half change when he pulled out midfielder Patrick Sembuya for striker Karim Ndugwa.
He credits the fighting spirit staged by the players especially in the second half.
At one stage, we dominated possession and we were inside the opponent’s half for long spells of the second half.
It was this pressure that rewarded our effort.
Lweza earned their 4th draw of the season in 8 games played to accumulate 10 points thus far, good enough to displace URA in the 9th place.
Sadolin Paints on the other hand, drove to 9 points but remained 12th on the 16 team log.
