Sam Timbe could be headed back to the Kenyan Premier League after making the shortlist of six coaches set to take over at AFC Leopards.

Leopards are actively seeking to replace Belgian Ivan Minnaert who was sacked after both a spell of under-performance and losing the dressing room last August.

The giant Kenyan club could announce the new coach in the coming days and this could be Timbe – who boasts successful coaching experience in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya, Kawowo Sports understands.

Timbe who could not be reached for comment faces competition from former Sofapaka and Azam coach Stewart Hall who has emerged as a serious contender in the last couple of days.

Hall led Azam to Cecafa cup glory last year without conceding a goal, where incidentally his team beat Gor Mahia 2-0 in the final.

Also making the cut of six from the original list of 42 coaches, but considered outsiders are Frenchman Patrick Liewig who is in charge of Tanzanian club Stand United, Rwandan Andrew Mbungo,

Didier Homes da Rosa and Serbian Popadic Dragan

Our sources revealed that da Rosa and Dragan seem to have impressed through their CVs but concerns about their high demands and links to a couple of officials who served in the previous office could be their undoing.

Leopards currently under the tutelage of caretaker coach Ezekiel Akwana have struggled this term despite a fine financial footing.

The team is currently ranked 11th on the 16 tean KPL standings, with four matches remaining till end of the season, and that includes this weekend’s derby against Gor Mahia.

Leopards is the second most successful club in Kenya and boasts a huge fanatical following.

The club is home to a couple of Ugandan players including Alan Katterrega.
