For a league that has run without a sponsor in the regular season, any penny is welcome. Pepsi and Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations entered a 40M UGX partnership ahead of the playoffs that tip off Friday evening at YMCA, Wandegeya.

“We are pleased to announce our sponsorship of this year’s FUBA playoffs. We have supported basketball for the last four years and we don’t regret partnering with FUBA,” Pepsi’s Tracy Kakuru told Kawowo Sports at the playoffs launch held at Lugogo Thursday morning.

The sponsorship will be in form of both cash worth shs25 million and event logistics including like soda, water, entertainment, and publicity worth Shs15 million.

“We thank Pepsi for continuing to support the growth of sport in Uganda and especially basketball,” federation Vice President Nasser Sserunjoji revealed at the press conference.

The 40M will give Pepsi naming rights until the end of the season. The 25M to be handed to the federation in cash will cater for the various administrative costs and the winner’s package is not well defined this time round.

“We cannot guarantee prize money at the moment,” Sserunjoji responded to questions about the token that will be given to the different winners at the end of the playoffs.

Friday, Sunday and Wednesday are the official game days with the federation considering other days to have the games end early December.
